G is a single mom who lives with her 21 year old daughter. Both are unemployed, but are diligently looking for regular work. However, they also have no transportation, which impacts their ability to do so. The lack of regular income has put them behind financially, and were in need of help to pay their rent this month. We were able to partner with the Real Life Center to take care of that for them.

Mike Stout’s small group spent Friday evening in Griffin cooking and serving approximately 20 homeless men, women, and children staying at the House of Hope homeless shelter. The House of Hope is a Salvation Army homeless shelter that provides emergency housing for men, women, and families. They are open 7 days/wk from 4:30pm-8:00am, and serve breakfast and dinner.

This is a great opportunity for small groups who want to engage in an important ministry that is relatively close to home. The shelter is always in need of help, particularly with feeding. If this is a ministry that interests you, contact the Missions Coordinator for more information.

D is single mother of 4 children. She is on disability and only able to work part-time. Recently, and without reason, her electric bills have become so excessive that it is suspected that someone is tapping into her power lines. However, getting the power company to resolve the issue is slow, and they have still required her to pay the bill. As a result, she has been struggling to make ends meet and was facing disconnect next week. We partnered with the Real Life Center to pay off her overdue power bill to keep her service on.
